Disney On Ice Treasure Trove Follow Up

We had a great time at Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove tonight! Disney ALWAYS puts on a great show. Here’s a little about some of our favorite moments.

We are all about Alice in Wonderland right now and my 4 year old was ecstatic when the Alice in Wonderland segment began.

2015_10_21_9999_44aThey enjoyed getting to see Tinkerbell and Peter Pan flying around, and of course defeating the mean Captain Hook!

Of course, it isn’t a Disney production without an appearance by the Clubhouse gang – Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy came out for a bit to introduce some segments.

In my last Disney On Ice post, I mentioned that our family costume would be Alice in Wonderland themed. I made these two costumes from a few items I found at Goodwill – the blue dress was a juniors dress, the apron was a pillow case, and the whole cat costume came from a women’s top. While they aren’t without their mistakes, I impressed myself with actually completing them (with plenty of time) and they actually look pretty darn good.

I also made a slipcover for my Catbird Baby Pikkolo carrier! I used this tutorial but made the shape according the contours of my brand of carrier.

We Love Disney Songs!

I enjoy compilation albums. I enjoy Disney songs. We Love Disney brings those two things together in a great album that gives classic Disney songs a new sound with some of todays most popular artists. The new We Love Disney album featuring Ne Yo, Gwen Stefani, Ariana Grande, Tori Kelly and more!

disney 1

Gwen Stefani’s “Rainbow Connection” from the Muppet Movie is nostalgic. Fall Out Boy’s rockabilly “I Wan’na Be Like You” from The Jungle Book gets your toes tapping. I like that they chose some songs that you don’t hear as often like Jhené Aiko’s “In a World of My Own/Very Good Advice,” from Alice in Wonderland. Even new classics like “Let It Go” from Frozen (the current favorite song of both of my daughters) sounds refreshed when sung by Lucy Hale & Rascal Flatts. The artists and songs chosen really do come from and cover the range of popular genres out there today.

Looking for something for the Disney lover in your life? We Love Disney makes a great gift and will be released in several configurations, including as a digital album, a standard CD, a Deluxe CD, on Deluxe Vinyl, and as a picture-disc set. The Deluxe versions feature two bonus tracks. This year, our family costume for Halloween will be characters from Alice in Wonderland with my oldest being Alice, my youngest being the Cheshire Cat, my husband as the Mad Hatter, and myself as the Queen of Hearts. I’ll probably still be working on the costumes right up until Halloween, but if you are looking for some Alice in Wonderland inspiration, check out my Pinterest board.

Disney On Ice Recap

I ended up taking my 3 year old to Disney On Ice Princesses & Heroes for a Mommy and Me date this evening. We had a great time. She was very excited to see the different princesses and the use of the lights and special effects was in true Disney fashion – spot on and inventive. In the first half, the popular princess seemed to be Ariel. I ended up having a sing along of all the Little Mermaid songs with the two little girls behind me.

However, it all of a sudden turned into a rock concert when it was clear the Frozen sisters segment was about to begin. You could see all the kids scoot to the edge of their seat, gripping the armrests. The crowd roared as soon as the Anna started skating. It was one big sing along with a few hundred of my newest friends – little girls, big kids, and even moms were belting out “Let It Go.”

I hope they rotate who gets to play Elsa because it must be such a rush to get that kind of reaction. Kids were in the aisles dancing and twirling. I am pretty sure every version of Anna and Elsa costumes were present in the crowd. One girl, dressed as Elsa, acted out the entire segment in front of the stage. The little girls seated near the front corners of the stage were staring, wide-eyed at Elsa and Anna standing close enough to touch. As usual, all the performers were great and interacted with the audience throughout the show.

If you are in Dayton, OH, be sure to grab tickets and get to show this weekend. They will be in town through Sunday. Click here to purchase tickets to a Disney On Ice show near you!

My daughter recently started liking Rapunzel, in addition to Ana and Elsa. She also knows who some of the princesses, like Belle and Cinderella, are from their Sofia the First appearances. I’m hoping I can get her interested in Tiana soon. Either way, I know she is going to love watching this show. The costumes and music are great and the skaters are always so wonderfully talented and graceful. We can’t wait to go!

We are a bit of a Disney family and she loves both Jake and the Never Land Pirates and Sofia the First so I know she is going to be up on her feet and singing and dancing along to the Disney Junior Live On Tour! In this original storyline, Mickey and Minnie lead the audience on an exciting adventure that will have families rooting for their favorite pirate, Jake, and Disney’s first little girl princess, Sofia. Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure begins with a special interactive pre-show featuring the loveable six-year-old doctor to toys and stuffed animals, Doc McStuffins. Children and their parents will sing the “I Feel Better” song, along with Doc as she provides tender love and care.

Audiences will then embark on a journey to the magical world of Enchancia, where Sofia, her step-siblings Amber and James, and the entire kingdom are preparing for the annual friendship festival. Sofia has the honor of delivering the perfect gift to her royal subjects at the celebration, and the one-and-only Cinderella visits the castle to help Sofia in her mission to find the right present.

The excitement continues when families cast away to Never Land where Jake and his Yo Ho pirate friends, Izzy and Cubby, are in a race against time to locate a mysterious treasure-filled volcano. Danger, thrills and adventure lurk around every turn when our swashbuckling friends battle Captain Hook for the ultimate prize. Peter Pan makes a special appearance, aiding the team in their heroic quest, and with the help of Tinker Bell’s pixie dust, Jake and his crew fly above the stage in their journey.
