Heroes of the City’s YouTube Channel

Heroes of the City has two of their own app’s already. I reviewed one a while back and my 4 year old still enjoys playing with. Now their YouTube Channel is among the offerings on the YouTube Kids app.

Every now and then I end up needing to use the phone to keep a child or two sitting or happy in a confined area, so an app that has a couple kid friendly options already selected works for me. Heroes of the City is one of the channels so at least I know my kids will be happy to see characters they know.

Heroes of the City Kids App Review and Giveaway!

Heroes Collage

I am always on the look out for fun games that hopefully have some skill-building component to them to load on to my phone. As much as I want Kelsey to play with real toys, there are some times when it is handy to have something available all the time. (It will especially be helpful on our upcoming trip to Florida, I’m sure.) I was recently given a copy of the Heroes of the City Kids App by Rute Ett DVD AB to review as well as a Heroes of the City pack which included a book, DVD, and toys of two of the characters.

Heroes of the City is a television cartoon about rescue vehicles in a small town where everyone can be a hero! Follow the fantastically exciting adventures along with friends in town.  Meet Paulie Police Car and Fiona Fire Engine as they help the townspeople find thieves, put out fires, and solve one of the many mysteries that happen in the otherwise quiet town. The cartoon is primarily targeted at children age 3 – 7.

Kelsey has been asking for “that car movie” as she calls it and has been enjoying the book, as well.

For the most part, my daughter has been interested in the games and asks daily to play at least one of the games on the phone. Overall, I feel comfortable letting her play with all of these games. Most of them were easy enough for her to figure out herself and she can play them with little direction. She can even go between the games easily on her own. Some of them are a little trickier to play but I think that means that this app has something to offer a wide range of ages. When I was checking out the games after I downloaded it, I caught myself playing one of the games for a few minutes, so even adults can have fun with this one, too.

2014_03_17_5774

Among the games there is a painting game, a puzzle game, a matching game, a game where the player has to direct a fire hose, and even one where the player selects portions of a train track to get the train from point A to point B. Some basically just require tapping the screen, others swiping and all feature the Heroes of the City characters. The movies are nice to watch and straight forward. They are a good introduction to the characters, as well.
