Glow Bug Cloth Diaper Review and Giveaway PLUS Showered With Love Giveaway Hop!

I am happy to bring you a review and giveaway of Glow Bug Cloth Diapers and connect you to the Showered With Love Giveaway Hop. I have been wanting to get my hands on a Glow Bug Cloth Diaper for some time now. I have been curious to see what all the 360° Gusset design was all about. This diaper has some bells and whistles but they make for a very functional diaper with lots of style. They are a great choice for someone just starting to cloth diaper since they are sold in packages of 12 and 24 through the website. In one stop you’ll get enough well made diapers in adorable, unique prints to take you from birth to potty training.

Let’s discuss some of the features this diaper has. First, there is the 360° Gusset design. I waited until my daughter had a nice, messy potty episode to sit down and write this review. I am delighted to report the 360 did its job and most of the mess was inside the gusset, now where near coming to the edge of the diaper and the possibility of it coming out.

The inside layer is made of SlimDry fabric which is thin but seems to do the job of transferring the liquid through to the insert but staying comfortable against baby’s skin. I liked the addition of waterproof fabric to the inside of the flaps and the front of the diaper. As a result, I have not had any issues with liquid wicking off the diaper and on to clothing. I also think it helps to reinforce the areas of the snaps.

Speaking of snaps, this diaper is loaded with them. That makes it a little noisy in the wash but they all have a purpose. There are two rows of snaps on the closure flap in addition to a cross over set to get a nice snug fit on the smallest of babies. The hip snap helps the diaper stay nice and secure on my wiggly baby. There are four rows of snaps for the rise adjustment giving you lots of options for a great fit at any stage. I think this versatility is going to give this diaper staying power in my rotation. We just moved down the rise shortly after taking these pictures of my 13 lb, 5 month old. I wanted to see if they would still fit even the latest of potty trained toddlers and enlisted my 33 lb, 3 year old to try it, too (she is potty trained already so didn’t field test the diaper). I think I may have been able to take the rise up one so you can see this will fit a variety of body types.

Glow Bug Cloth Diapers come with a snap in microfiber insert, hence the snap you see right in the middle of the front of the diaper. There are also two pockets, one in front and one in back. Although I wish the inside material was cut a little longer to accommodate the bunching of the fabric. As you can see above, there is a chance the microfiber insert can touch baby’s skin at the back pocket opening if you are not careful to pull the material over it to close the gap. While it has been a slight difference getting these stuffed to be ready to wear, it has been a snap to prepare them to be washed. Literally, just unsnap the microfiber insert and toss in the pail. With the two openings, the insert has come out in the wash on its own every time. Sometimes, every little bit helps.

I’m not currently signed up for the Great Cloth Diaper Change this year. I went last year in Blaine, MN. It was fun, but it was a 2 hour drive. I believe the closest location this year is still 2 hours. That, and I’m due with baby on May 1st, but we’re a little unsure of the dates (another way to calculate the dates puts the due date on April 21st). Not really planning to drive 2 hours for it. Wish there was something closer!

  2. Beth R says:

Our closest one is an hour away in Lawrence, KS. We went last year when it was 10 minutes away, but not sure we will make the drive this year. We haven’t decided either way, but it depends on what other plans we have that weekend

  3. I learned the nearest Resource location is in Fairfax VA. I have signed up for the newsletter and hope I will be able to attend. It might be easier when they have more locations. Thank you for the information I have never heard of it.

I participated last year in Flint, Michigan, but now we are in GA so I am participating at the Marietta, GA location. Very exciting!!

I was very surprised to see that there is a location in my town (Bangor, ME), but unfortunately I don’t have a ride or anyone to watch my other son! :/ yay for no vehicle.
